Reading

I have always loved to read. I think I get it from my mom who reads too much for her own good. So much so that she'll be reading a book, be halfway through and realize she's already read it. I would imagine if my mom bought all the books she read she would have a space like this:

right mom?!
Since I'm such a good daughter, I would help her organize her books into a bookshelf that would look like any of the following:

such a cute room

I love built-ins

secret hideaway

I love how clean this looks :)

So cool for a basement or small apartment

I would take any of these book spaces for my own!

I have recently realized how all over my taste in books is. As of late I have read I am Number Four, Matched, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and the latest A Game of Thrones. I have become completely engrossed in this book. I also found out there is a show and three more books :) I'll take a break in between the series because I have other books on my list.
I can't wait to watch the HBO show for A Game of Thrones :)

Happy Weekend!!

You Skeem, I Skeem, We All Skeem for SKEEM!

Skeem candles are a must have in life. Parts of California, Arizona and Mexico experienced a blackout last Thursday night and I had just used my the last of my Skeem candle. I had no light except for my phone! It was actually very cool being in the city because we are so used to everything bright. Even at night there are lights, cities never sleep but not this night.
I didn't have an "emergency kit." Do people really? I know now I should probably get one especially when hubs is not home for the week! I had only little tea light candles and band-aids. So basically Joanna, go invest in an emergency kit and make sure to have Skeem Candles in there. They smell nice and my little itty-bitty votive had 30 hours of burn life! I recently invested in the larger ones that have 120 hours of burn life. My favorite scent is the Vintage Peony. I may be biased towards peonies but it smells so yummy and fills our whole apartment up with goodness! I am trying out some new scents and will let you know what I think!

Skeem Shop

So when this blackout hit it was very *neat*…everything was so dark it made the moon seem extra bright. I went over to my girlfriends, we hungout, kept each other company and "grilled" on a gas stove.

Some of their friends had gone hiking earlier that day and brought over these head lamps, BRILLIANT!

In the mean time I need to find other things to put in my survival emergency kit like band-aides, candles, alcohol, maybe catch phrase?? But really what even goes in an emergency kit?! Water is probably a good one…

Happy Tuesday! Don't forget to check out Missoni at Target. I have a date planned with a girlfriend tonight to hit it up :) Happy shopping!

Missoni for Target

I have to say I'm not a super huge fan of Missoni. I like it but I don't absolutely LOVE it like I do other designers. The collection will be at Target for about a month and it's definitely getting a lot of buzz. It is about 400 pieces of clothes, home, and outdoor and there are a couple things I already like!

this bike :)
Obviously I still want the Lily P. cruiser but this is still cute. I know I will be seeing it in Pacific Beach…it's kinda "hippy chic"

I will be getting this suit :)

I love this little girl outfit

I like this patio furniture :) especially for a small porch like ours, it's perfect!

So very cute…too bad I can't wear heels to work!

This is what caught my eye from the collection…I didn't see any of their "home" products beside the furniture that I loved. I think they have things for the bathroom and kitchen too.
The collection is out the 13th.
Happy Friday!!

Lets Get Trendy

In my dream home I would have chevron. I feel like I have seen it a lot lately and I like it. Just a little here or there, not everywhere ;)

Something like this:

Chev wood flooring

Lovely neutral chev rug

I would love this room/floor minus the chest thing to the left

A little boys room, in a hallway, maybe even a cool bathroom?!

This is such a perfect little girls room. I mean I love pink but I love these gray walls and baby blue chev rug with the pink accents.

I.want.this

Not my favorite

Love the colors :)

Can I have this in my shower please?

And for my own personal style:

How cool is this?!
And I definitely need to invest in a suit like this. A couple weekends ago I was tossed by a wave boogie boarding with phil (aren't we so cool?)…guess what slipped down? Yes, my bottoms. Luckily I pulled those suckers back up before I stood up. Otherwise it could have been ugly.

After Photos...

our bedroom :) More after pics and this means only like 3 rooms left…having a small apartment is nice in some ways!!

Here is what it looked like before:

how boring?!

AFTER:

I hate that this looks so yellow but it's the light and the walls :( if only we could paint!

The dresser isn't as close as it looks

Of course my side is messy!

My desk with no chair so we move our "eating" chairs everywhere around the house!

does this look a little cramped to you?!

Here is our owl friend who is still unnamed!

This is Elly (reminds me of Lily everyday!)

I love this wedding gift…the people not the antlers ;)

I have really been liking these walls...

….that have painted stripes and if we could we would be doing this in our apt but we will just have to wait till next year :)
I'm counting the days till we find our own place!

On our bookshelf:
On a side note, when I was student teaching I read this book. Intwodays. I couldn't put it down. The Hunger Games. It's a "young adult novel" but seriously so good and there are two others in the sequel, one is Catching Fire and the other is Mockingjay (the blue book). Buy them and read them!

Happy Thursday, ALMOST the weekend!
